Tangram Rules:
1. All seven pieces must be
used in forming each design. 2. The seven pieces must be
placed next to each other never superimposed. 3. Each design must correspond
exactly with the model.
Tangrams
are perhaps the most versatile of puzzles (along with soma cubes and
pentominoes). The 7 piece puzzle is very old in design and is extremely
popular around the world. Tangram history is somewhat of a mystery.
Originally this puzzle attracted mostly adults, however the appeal is
now to both adults and kids. It is a common item in schools. Tangrams
will make many many shapes beyond the square. Our 2 instruction sheets
provide 72 different shapes that you can make, each of which requires
all 7 pieces. Books are availble ( Jerry Slocum's Tangram book is
outstanding and is avail at major bookstores) which will provide you
2000+ shapes to make. All are a challenge with typically a 15-20 minute
solution time for each.
Egg Tangram
The egg tangram is a bit unusual. Its a 9 piece tangram and pieces from the egg
make birds. There are 54 different bird shapes for you to make. Each one uses
all 9 pieces! This tangram originated in Mid 1800's as a follow up to the
immensely popular 7 piece square tangram.
The Heart Tangram is quite unusual. It is a 9 piece heart shaped tangram and we
provide 42 different tangram shapes that can be made. Tangrams are very old
puzzles. It comes in a wood box with wood lid.
Tangram Letters
Letter tangram puzzles are fun. They don't look hard, so everyone wants to
try them; but.... good luck! The letters F, T, H, and K are available.
